Parents United for Real Education (PUREd) believes that adult political issues have no place in p-k thru 12 public schools. See Real Education not Political Education – Parents United for Real Education (puredwv.com)

Teachers are educated professionals.

  • not unlicensed social workers
  • not untrained counselors
  • not political activists

Let these professionals that are trained to teach do so. That is why they are called teachers.

Board of Education (BOE)

The elected Board of Education (BOE) is statutorily responsible for all that goes on in the County Education District. All budget items, all curriculum, all books, all rules, all discipline, all class structure, all buildings, fields, and facilities. EVERYTHING! If you want something changed you must speak to them, ideally at the BOE Meetings, and convince them to change something. If they refuse, then organize to vote them out. A PARENT GROUP is the best place to organize and effect change. Strength in numbers.

Parent’s Choice

Allow parents to choose how their children will be educated. Whether they want heterogeneous or homogeneous classrooms. Whether they want to use age appropriate learning materials or not. Whether they want a moral learning environment or not. Offer 2 types of classroom learning environments. Parents ought to have a choice of Real Education or Political Education.

Small Class Sizes

When all the students in a classroom have the same desire and ability to learn, the teacher has an easier job of teaching, essentially, to just one ability level. Teachers in homogeneous classrooms can move at a rate which allows all students to achieve more. The teacher need not attempt to slow progress to allow those of differing learning rates to master the material. These classrooms can have a higher student teacher ratio while student achievement increases.

A heterogeneous classroom necessarily has several levels of learning that the teacher must take the time to make sure all students comprehend the material before moving on. These classrooms need a smaller student teacher ratio to be successful at all.

No matter the type of structure, disruptive students severely slow the learning process. All disruptive students must be removed from these classrooms for the sake of most of the students. Disruptive students at least need smaller student teacher ratios and special attention from professionals to help them improve their student achievement. Disruptive students have issues. The BOE should make sure community and school partnerships are available to address these issues and help them return to their regular classrooms. Teachers cannot be effective while being required to be unlicensed social workers and counselors.

Tutors

Students that are found to be lagging in certain areas can be given the extra attention required for them to gain mastery of the subject material.

  1. Homogeneous classrooms allow for more students with better student achievement as they can all learn at the same pace.

Heterogeneous classrooms should have lower student teacher ratios to address the varied learning rates of the students. Some effort of the more advanced students can be spent helping the teacher teach others.

Students lagging behind should have tutors to catch up.

Disruptive students should be in an environment that has educators specifically trained as licensed counselors; also social workers as needed.
Disruptive students should not be allowed to slow the learning of an entire classroom. Their learning rate should be allowed to maximize at a rate their behavior allows.

Parents should have a choice as to the learning environment for their children.
    Choice of heterogeneous or homogeneous.
Choice of real education only or education involving adult political issues.

Any comments as to how to accomplish this and is it advisable?
